Hello, fellow craft lovers!
Today marks a special day for Emily's Weaving – the launch of our brand new website! I am thrilled to finally unveil a space that reflects the passion, creativity, and colourful nature that goes into every piece I create.
But before we dive in, let's take a moment to appreciate the journey that led me here. Emily's Weaving is more than just a business; it's a labor of love fuelled by a lifelong fascination with crafts, colourful interiors and passion for creating with my own hands.
From the Beginning: The Emily's Weaving Story
I have always been interested in Home Decor, even taking an evening class learning everything about Interior design a few years ago. I stumbled upon weaving whilst browsing Pinterest in 2017, adding numerous pins to my never ending ✨ Future Home Inspiration board ✨ I saw images of woven wall hangings and once discovering one I loved, I shortly realised it was out of my budget. However, that sparked an interest in me. I like to put my hand to anything, always learning how to do different crafts and projects and I don't like to fail at learning to do something.
I have always been interested in crafts. My mum taught me how to knit at a young age I even remember choosing to doing a class presentation about knitting back in primary school!
I had some wool stashed at home from when I learned how to crochet. So I gathered my materials and fashioned my own loom with a canvas frame (with the canvas removed) and lots of nails hammered in each end. It produced a very wobby weave, and at the time I was so impressed with it! My skills have greatIy improved since then, and I have even recreated my original weave in my store with my Custom Geometric Woven Wall Hanging.
Flash forward to now and I have introduced several new crafts into my repertoire including crochet and yarn spinning, and I have created my own DIY Kits so others can learn to weave and discover their creativity.
Weaving the Web: A New Online Site
I have poured my heart (and several evenings work over the past months) into crafting a website that's as beautiful and user-friendly as the products. One of the additions to my new website is this new blog! I remember back in 2020/2021 I spent so much time connecting with my audience through daily stories and long form captions on Instagram and I feel like I don't do that enough anymore. It was such a lovely space where I made so many small business friends and lovely customers who were all shopping small during the pandemic.
I wanted to create a space where I can talk about crafts, exciting opportunities and collaborations and keep you up to date on all things going on behind the scenes at Emily's Weaving!
The Threads Unravel...
This is just the beginning of my exciting new chapter online. We can't wait to share more about our weaving journey, introduce you to new creations, home decor projects I am working on, behind the scenes and so much more!
